Sunday, the 20th of July, dawned with a bright and fair weather; even the dark clouds that graced the skies in the prevalent rainy season went on a break that morning. This goes to confirm the scripture that says that “all things work together for the good of those who love God…” including the sun, moon and stars!
The venue of event, the Ceremonial Pavilion, was already filled to capacity before the commencement of the program scheduled to start by 8am that morning. Attendees occupied every available space in the hall and the overflow sections outside the hall just to partake of the meeting. One could see written on their faces the contagious desire to receive from God. Even after the doors to the hall were shut many still pushed through to climb the walls of the building just to be a part of the event! This was surely a fulfillment of the prophecy in Is 2:2-3 ‘ And it shall come to pass in the last days ,that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains , and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it .And many people shall go and say ,Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His way, and we will walk in His paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the Law, and the word of the lord from Jerusalem.’
Pastor Afolabi Oketunji, the Director of BLW Campus Ministry, passionately shared God’s words that day amidst thousands of expectant young people. He expounded on certain principles for living a successful life. He showed them from the word of God the importance of declaring words concerning their future.
He explained to the audience that rather than sit back and wait for a change to come from someone else, they should be the change that their world needs. He highlighted certain areas that need to change in Nigeria and encouraged them to think of what they can invent to improve the state of the nation. He inspired them to dream big and discipline themselves in the direction of their dreams. He explained that one of the setbacks most African organizations have is their inability to work as a team to achieve results, encouraging the audience to imbibe a team spirit in their daily activities. Glory filled the air as the audience burst forth into shouts of victory as the meeting came to a close. Hundreds came forward to surrender their hearts to Christ, their first steps in the journey of a successful life.
